What is e-reputation ?  

E-reputation is the image of an entity, brand, company, individual etc. on the internet. It is defined via search engines, review platforms, social networks etc. It has become a crucial point in influencing purchasing decisions. A majority of the population relies on online customer reviews as a trigger to buy or not. This image can be negative or positive. 

Monitoring your e-reputation 

First and foremost, and this is a crucial point, it is very important to pay attention to your online reputation, i.e. to monitor it. There are several free tools such as Google Alerts, which informs you when your company's name is mentioned somewhere, or Netvibes, which is an RSS feed reader capable of keeping track of the latest news on selected keywords or expressions. 

Keep in mind that it is impossible to fully control your e-reputation, but you can influence it.

Share positive reviews and content 

It is important to create a connection with your consumer. User-generated content creates strong social proof and brings you closer to your consumer. Share posts, positive reviews and photos. 

Encourage satisfied customers to write reviews by setting up a mailing system asking them to write about their experiences for example. Give them the space to express themselves, because a satisfied customer will talk about it and 10 new potential customers will come to your site

Handle negative reviews publicly 

It is perfectly normal to receive negative comments online, it can happen. However, it is important not to break the link with the customer, understanding why their experience was unpleasant and compensating them may be a solution.

If you ignore your customers' complaints, you will look like a company that doesn't care about its customers and your e-reputation will be directly impacted. You need to show that you are capable of handling a delicate situation as an e-business. This will reassure your prospects and customers of your professionalism.

Create quality content

To improve your e-reputation, it is important that you show your expertise. Indeed, your content defines your legitimacy. Whether on the internet or on social networks, sharing content regularly will give you visibility with your customers.

If your strategy is based on your customers, it is important to give them implicit answers to their problems. This will help build customer loyalty. Your reputation will also be enhanced as you will be seen as a competent company that knows its stuff.

Monitor your e-reputation regularly 

One of the main keys to an e-reputation strategy is its continuous nature. You have to be constantly attentive, create content, be present on social networks, and post reviews. If you don't, you will no longer be on the top pages of search engines such as Google, Yahoo or Bing.

Consumers generally take the easy way out. They click on the first 3 pages that match their searches. It is important to keep a constant check. Set up a watch on all the search engines, to know what is being said about you, to be aware of what consumers, competitors and even the world of influence are saying.
